    If you want mercy from others, then you need to take care to be merciful.

    There are some who argue there is no such thing an altruism in humans. These verses emphasize the true nature of humans in that we are essentially homo economicus creatures. Perhaps this is the case for all living things as is so eloquently captured in Richard Dawkins’ “the selfish gene.”
