On this Holy Week, it’s good to reflect how Jesus chose to endure humiliation on the cross in order to make us righteous before God. We are in a right relationship with the Father because of the Son.

Is Jesus describing a thirst for righteousness in others or in ourselves? Or both? How about the other passages? It would seem we need righteousness not only in ourselves for the world to be as Christ describes.

This probably meant a lot to those in the day that Jesus gave the sermon because it was a time in which they could relate to hunger and thirst, much easier than us.
Modern man, at least in the western civilization, hunger for other things, like Power, authority, money, etc.
We are very far from understanding the basic needs of hunger and thirst, like they did back then.
